The history of The Exile, a Lao-Canadian heavy metal band, is quite interesting and can be outlined chronologically:

- Formation (1991): The Exile was formed in 1991. Initially, started started in Laos and then we immigrated to Canada or America. We each played during our high school, we also played for our local community associations. Rock was our soul and each would travel far from home to California or Ontario, where ever there is good player resides and started forming the group and have serious training and making music. The band’s genre is heavy metal/hard rock, a unique blend in the context of Laotian music.
- Musical Style Development: In our early years, The Exile crafted a distinctive sound, combining elements of traditional Laotian music with the hard-hitting styles of heavy metal and hard rock.
- Release of “Barn Gert Hao”: This album marked our debut and showcased our unique musical style. It included popular songs that became synonymous with the band.
- Signing with Grammy and Rise to Fame: Achieving a significant milestone, The Exile was the first Laotian band to sign with the Thai entertainment company Grammy. Our self-titled album, distributed by MGA, gained The Exile international attention. during the making of of the next album “Heaven or Hell” our manager at Grammy passed away due to illness.
- Building an International Fanbase: Following our initial success, the band continued to grow their fanbase globally. Their music resonated across borders, leading to energetic and engaging performances.
- Work on the Third Album “Homecoming”: As of recent reports, The Exile has been working on our third album, “Homecoming.” This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our art and our fans.
- Lineup Changes and Musical Evolution: Over time, The Exile has seen changes in its band lineup, members and musical style, adapting to the evolving music industry and their diverse fanbase.
- Current Status: The band remains active, continuously working on new music and engaging with our fans. in 2024, we announced of the Fourth Album “Heaven or Hell” which was produced in 1994 with the Grammy selection of songs and will be release in 2024; in time for the 30 years anniversary of The Exile.
